안내표지판에 꽃기장'로스트할부스키 Panicum virgatum 'Rotstrahlbusch'로 되어 있으나 Panicum virgatum은 큰개기장이고 'Rotstrahlbusch'은 잘못 읽었다

겨울철에 접어들면 잎 끝이 붉은 색으로 변하는데서 품종명 Rotstrahlbush가 유래하였다

큰개기장은 화서 가기가 개출한다. 소화는 2개로  그 중 한 개는 불임이다 

 

 

설명 

 

This red switchgrass gets its name from its numerous burgundy-tipped leaves. Panicum virgatum ‘Rotstrahlbusch’ grows in an upright shape to about three feet, four feet with red-tinted, airy seed heads. Its fall coloring is especially lovely; foliage becomes deep red turning to tan as winter approaches. It provides structure and form in the winter garden. ‘Rotstrahlbusch’, roughly translated, means “red ray bush,” which is a good description of its appearance. Be sure to cut it back in early spring before new growth appears. From our experience, this red switchgrass is similar to Panicum virgatum ‘Hänse Herms’.
