Erica속은 워낙 종류가 많고 우리나라 자생종이 아니기에 우리나라에서는 사실 정확한 동정을 하기 어렵다. 본 종의 이름은 인터넷 이미지 검색을 해서 가장 가까운 이미지를 얻어 정한 것이기에 얼마든지 잘못된 이름일 수 있다. 잘 아시는 분이 지적해주시면 언제든 바로 잡을 것이다.

Erica mammosa (the Nine-pin Heath) is a species of erica that was naturally restricted to the south-western corner of the Western Cape, South Africa.

 

It produces masses of flowers in a range of colours from light-pink to orange to bright red. The species name "mammosa" means "with breasts" and refers to the udder-like shape of the flowers.
