설명:

떨기나무 또는 작은키나무로 수고 약 8m 정도; 어린 가지에는 성상모가 있고 매끄럽다; 겨울눈은 좁은 난형이고 회황색 털이 잇다, 엽병은 6-10mm로 털이 있다; 엽신은 광도란형-원형 또는 장타원형으로  8–15 × 6–10 cm이고 잎 뒷면에 성상의 면모가 밀생한다. 잎 윗면은 좀 우툴두툴하고 성상의 면모가 드물게 있다. ,엽저는 심장저이나 한쪽으로 좀 기울어져 있다., 엽연은 심파상 거치이며 엽선은 예두이다. 측맥은 6-8쌍이고 뒷면에서 융기한다. 기부의 2개의 측맥에는 3차맥이 있다. 꽃대는 약 5mm, 꽃받침은 3mm로 윗면이 때때로 갈색을 띤다. 꽃잎은 길이 약 1.5cm; 수술대(화사)와 꽃밥은 길이가 비슷하며 약 2mm이다; 헛수술은 끝은 절두이다: 자방에는 면모가 있고; 암술대는 1–1.5 mm이다. 삭과는 도란형-구형으로  1.2 × 1 cm이다(이하 생략).    

(원문:  Shrubs or small trees to 8 m tall; young branches stellately tomentose, glabrescent; buds narrowly ovoid, gray-yellow tomentose. Petiole 6–10 mm, tomentose; leaf blade broadly obovate-rounded or oblong, 8–15 × 6–10 cm, abaxially densely stellately tomentose with gray hairs, adaxially subscabrous, sparsely stellately pubescent, base cordate, asymmetrical, margin sinuate-dentate, apex acute; lateral veins 6–8 on each side, abaxially prominent, basal 2 lateral veins with tertiary veins. Inflorescence peduncle ca. 5 mm. Sepals ca. 3 mm, sometimes brown adaxially, persistent. Petals yellow, ca. 1.5 cm; filaments ca. 2 mm; anthers nearly equal to filaments; staminode apex truncate. Ovary tomentose; styles 1–1.5 mm. Capsules ovoid-globose, ca. 1.2 × 1 cm, densely stellately tomentose with yellow-brown hairs; persistent floral cup ca. 1/3 as long as capsules. Seeds ca. 8 mm. Fl. Apr–May, fr. Jun–Aug.) 개화 시기는 4-5월이다.

일본에서도 이 두 종을 잘 구별하지 못하는 것 같다. 그러나 일본 야후에서 대체로 공유하고 있는 부분은  Hamamelis mollis는 개화시에도  낙엽을 대부분 달고 있고, 꽃 향기가 좋다는 것,  여기에 대해   Hamamelis japonica는 대체로 낙엽을 달고 있지 않으며 꽃에서 약간   비릿한   냄새가 난다는  점이다.  Hamamelis mollis가 꽃이 더 조밀하게 달린다고 기술한 곳도 있으나 Hamamelis japonica 중에서도  꽃이  조밀하게 달리는 사진이 자주 검색되어 중요한 차이점은 되지 않는듯하다.

金缕梅属 jin lu mei shu

Shrubs or small trees, deciduous; branches with 1 prophyll, young branches tomentose; buds naked, tomentose. Leaves petiolate; stipules caducous, leaving small scars; leaf blade thinly leathery or papery, asymmetrical, margin entire or undulate-dentate, venation pinnate, 2 basal lateral veins usually with tertiary veins. Inflorescence capitate, or shortly spicate, axillary, 3–4-flowered. Flowers bisexual. Sepals 4, ovate, pubescent. Petals 4, yellow, greenish or red, straplike, circinate in bud. Stamens 4; filaments short; anthers ovoid, thecae 1-sporangiate, each dehiscing by 1 valve; staminodes 4, alternating with stamens, scalelike, producing nectar. Ovary semi-inferior; ovules 1 per locule; styles very short. Capsules woody, dehiscing above middle by two 2-lobed valves; endocarp loose from woody exocarp. Seeds ellipsoid; endosperm fleshy. 2n = 24.

Six species: China, Japan, North America; one species (endemic) in China.

 

 

 

葉の歯牙が細かく、葉裏と葉柄に綿毛が密生する。

 

 

 

 

풍년화속에는 몇 종이 있는지 알 수 없으나 최소한 6종 정도가 있는 것으로 알려져 있다(Flora of China). 그러나 풍년화속에 대해서는 어느 곳에서도 분류 키를 찾을 수 없다. Flora of China에는 Hamamelis mollis Oliv. 1종만 등재되어 있고 Flora of North America에는 Hamamelis vernalis Sarg.와 Hamamelis virginiana L.의 2종이 등재되어 있다. 이 2종만 분류 키가 있다. 아래에 소개한다.

봄에 개화, 향기가 짙다, 꽃받침은 옅은 붉은 색 또는 짙은 붉은 색 내지 오렌지색을 띠나 때로는 노란색을 띠기도 한다. 헛수술은 거의 팽대되지 않는다. 겨울에도 잎이 달려 있다 잎은 대체로 도란형 엽저는 좁아져 설저 모양에 가깝다, 드물게 원저, 약한 왜저이다. 잎 뒷면이 분백색이다, 뿌리가 포복성이다.(Flowers appearing in winter, distinctly fragrant; petals reddish or deep red to orange, occasionally yellow, 7–10 mm; staminodes not dilated or slightly so; leaves often persistent in winter, blade mostly obovate, base narrowed to somewhat cuneate, rarely rounded, weakly oblique, surfaces often abaxially glaucous; plants stoloniferous) ...........................
